Les Cousins is a project run by cousins Marc and Adrià Pérez in the village of Porrera in Priorat. They cut their teeth in the family winery - which is not a bad place to start when you’re the son and nephew of Josep Lluís Pérez, one of the leading figures of the “Priorat Revolution” – and after gaining further experience in other vineyards, they decided to set up on their own and launched the “Les Cousins” line.
L'Inconscient 2022 is a perfect entry point into their selection. It’s a fresh easy-drinking wine that’s made to enjoy. But it has a complexity that will satisfy the taste buds of more demanding wine lovers.
On the nose, you’ll get a gentle waft of forest fruits and a touch of spice from the time it spends maturing in French oak barrels. And in the mouth, you’ll notice more strawberry-like flavours and earthy notes that blend subtly with a smooth creaminess which makes the wine slip down beautifully. Delicious!
The first sip after opening the bottle I was a little disapponted in that the wine tasted rather watery, and left a tingle on the tongue. However, after 10 minutes the character of the wine changed significantly, smooth, well rounded and full of flavour, with, I felt a hint of dark chocolate. I would have no hesitation in buying more.
