Medium to deep garnet red in colour. Strong aromas of red fruit with balsamic notes, aniseed and fennel - think of the aromas you might find in a Mediterranean wood. Intense red fruit flavours on the palate, with soft tannins that make for a creamy, pleasing structure and an excellent balance between alcohol and acidity.
This wine would work well with most meats. But whilst it would hold its own against a good steak, it is particularly suited to lighter meats like game, pork or veal. It would also sit happily alongside a good winter stew and would make an excellent accompaniment to a cheeseboard.
The grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand in the vineyard with any sub-standard fruit discarded. To maintain quality, the grapes are kept chilled at 10ºC on their way to the winery where they are de-stemming and undergo a gentle pressing before temperature-controlled fermentation at 15ºC in 10,000-litre stainless steel tanks to lock in aromas. Once fermentation is finished the wine is fined and filtered before it is bottled.

Set up in 2012, iTant is the brainchild of Joan Angel Lliberia, head man at Edetaria, one of Terra Alta's most respected wineries, and firm defender of the unique character and personality of indigenous Catalan grape varieties, particularly Garnacha. iTant's aim is to produce top quality, value for money wines that really reflect the typical characteristics of their region.
